Pedal power brings toys for children

Posted onPosted on 13th Dec

Members of Ashfield Road Cycling Club (ARC) have again supported a local toy appeal.

Last year their generosity allowed Mansfield Salvation Army to donate five toys each to 136 children.

This year they smashed that target by raising more than £1,000 and presenting it to the Salvation Army Church Centre in Mansfield with a mass club ride.

Dan Lidgett, of ARC, said: “We are a local cycling club full of generous members who donated their time and money last year to this fantastic local cause.

“There was such a great response that we thought we’d do it bigger and better this year.”

Stephen Hicks, community programme coordinator at Mansfield Salvation Army, added: “It has been great that Dan and Ashfield Road Cycling Club have once again decided to support our toy appeal, after the great response last year, which helped to ensure that all referred children had a good Christmas.

“Their support this year, along with the generosity of other groups, businesses, and individuals, will once again ensure that the disadvantaged children of Mansfield and surrounding areas will have a great Christmas.”
