Panto Day at Palace

Whilst the show still continues on-stage, the fun carries on off stage as Friday, 12 December sees the return of National Panto Day, and the Mansfield Palace Theatre will be taking part in a variety of fun and informative ways.

The Palace will use Twitter and Facebook as their platform to give the general public an insight into panto land. A live tweetathon during a show, interviews, crosswords, wordsearches, cast tweets and caption competitions will all feature as part of this fun day. The evening performance will also be signed by BSL interpreter, Nigel Cleaver. The theatre can be found on the social networking sites using @MansfieldPalace and /Mansfield Palace Theatre.

Founded in 2011, National Panto Day was created as a day to celebrate the UK’s most beloved artform. In 2013, celebrations saw 2 million Twitter users and over 150 theatres participate in the annual event and this year even more people are hoped to get involved.

Founder and co-ordinator of Panto Day, Simon Sladen said, “This is set to be an exciting year for Panto Day as we embrace pantomime across the UK in its many forms. At the heart of a community at Christmas, pantomime brings people of all ages together and we can’t wait to hear what people think this festive season.”

Panto fans are also encouraged to use the hashtag #pantopout and submit photos of their best pouts – and that includes the men! The Palace team would also love to hear what your favourite part of the show is.

This year’s show Sleeping Beauty is well on course to beat all the Palace Box Office records with the show at 91% sold with three and a half weeks of the run still to go.

The show stars Coronation Street favourite Vicky Entwistle (Janice Battersby) as the Bad Fairy Carabosse; Milkshake presenter Amy Thompson as Sleeping Beauty; Sarah-Jane Buckley as The Good Fairy and comedy star Adam Moss as Silly Billy.

Tickets are priced £13.84, £12.81 for concessions and £49.20 for a family of four. All of the above ticket prices include a 2.5 per cent booking fee.

To book tickets for Sleeping Beauty this Christmas, call the Box Office on 01623 633133 or book online by visiting www.mansfield.gov.uk/palacetheatre (fees apply).
