Opticians appeals for donations

Posted onPosted on 9th Oct

STAFF from Specsavers in the Idlewells shopping centre in Sutton are appealing for donations to Mary’s Foodbank @Sutton.

Mary’s Foodbank operates from the Magdalene Centre on Church Avenue each Friday. It provides hot meals as well as food parcels and other essentials for those in need. The volunteer team is in urgent need of tinned and dried food products as well as sanitary products and toiletries.

Items can be brought in to Specsavers or dropped at the red foodbank located in the Idlewells shopping centre.

Store director Nigel Davidson said: “The volunteers from St Mary’s are doing incredibly valuable work, helping people in our community with the most basic of needs.

“It isn’t only vital food and supplies that they are able to offer, they can also give advice about other local services and just have a chat.

“As a local business, it’s very important to us to help make a difference in our town and we’re very proud to support the local foodbank team.”

Specsavers Sutton in Ashfield sponsored the introduction of the shopping centre collection point in 2014 and since then, hundreds of people have benefited from shoppers’ donations.
