Open day at new sixth form college

Posted onPosted on 9th Sep

West Nottinghamshire College’s newly opened sixth form college will be staging an open day later this month for those considering A Levels as their next study option.

The Mansfield and Ashfield Sixth Form College on Chesterfield Road South, Mansfield, has recently been refurbished for its new intake of A Level students who are studying on a range of 17 subjects as well as combining BTECs in health and social care, IT, engineering, and sport and exercise science with their A Level subjects.

The open day will take place on Thursday, 23 September, from 5.30pm-7.30pm, when people can meet and speak to tutors as well as apply for courses on the night.

Guests to the open evening can bring family and friends to look around the updated facilities and explore the new library, work-based learning zone, science laboratories and the new canteen area.

In 2021, A Level students achieved an overall pass rate of 99.2% in their studies and the college saw 100% pass rates in 12 of the 15 subjects on offer.

Assistant principal Jane Fishwick said: “We’re very excited to have opened our doors to this newly transformed sixth form college and it’s been great welcoming all of our new A Level students. This truly is a centre designed around their specific study needs where they can excel in their studies.

“We’re looking forward to showing lots of potential new students around at the forthcoming open event, so they can explore this new environment and get their questions answered by our tutors.
