Mansfield Museum is launching an after-school project for 12 students aged 11-15.
Future History, funded by Museum Development East Midlands, will run for 12 weeks from 22nd April. Workshops will look at how digital media and new technologies can be used in museums, and explore new ways of looking at and interpreting history.
Students will look at how museums are digitising their collections and will be able to contribute to the online archives through data entry and photography.
Participants will create a podcast and produce short films inspired by the museum’s collections, relating to Mansfield’s industrial heritage.
The heritage is the focus of the museum’s forthcoming permanent exhibition Made in Mansfield, which is due to open in October 2014.
The programme is free and will be run by the museum’s community participation officer, Sally Evans.
If you’re interested in taking part, contact Sally Evans, at [email protected] or call 01623 463088.
