Murray appointed Stags manager

Adam Murray has been appointed the new manager of Mansfield Town FC.

Murray had been caretaker manager since Paul Cox left the club last month.

Murray, who was assistant manager, was one of seven interviewed this week by chairman John Radford and directors.

Murray, who won his first match in charge, has already won praise from fans for his more attractive, attacking style of play.

Mr Radford said it was a unamimous decision and he deserved the opportunity because of his service to the club.

Murray said it was a proud moment and the right time to take his first step on the managerial ladder.

“It is the right time and the right place to take this step. At the minute I will concentrate on managing and not play. My focus will be on managing.

“I have got my own ideas. A big factor was the reaction I have got from the players over the past two weeks.”

The backroom staff, including Mickey Moore and Richard Cooper, will remain.
