Muddy marvellous Plastek fundraisers!

Posted onPosted on 9th Nov

Staff at a Forest Town business tackled a gruelling 10km Tough Mudder course to raise £767 for the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance.

The team from Plastek UK chose the charity because several members had family involvement in life-saving rescues by the air ambulance.

The Plastek Warriors — Joe Salisbury, Magdalena Pradun, Andy Lawson, Steve Bowley, Pawel Majcher, Danielle Harkness, Ewelina Grochola and Mike Jones — made it around the whole course of 22 obstacles at Heaton Park.

They ploughed through mud, filthy water, dangling electric-shock ribbons, over steep and slippery climbs as much as three-storeys high, and under pipes, metal grids, and barbed wire, which were arranged to force participants to crawl under water.

Danielle said: “The Warriors had a fabulous day.

“It’s incredibly hard work, and we all picked up a few cuts and bruises. But we were lucky with the weather because it poured with rain on the two days either side of the event.

“Knowing that you’re competing for a really excellent cause makes it all worthwhile. You simply can’t complete challenges like this without loads of teamwork, so there’s a great spirit of camaraderie throughout the whole event.”

The Warriors thanked their colleagues and the company for their support with fundraising.

They added: “Plastek UK sponsored the T-shirts and hoodies we wore, loaned company pool cars to reduce fuel costs, provided much-needed drinks and snacks after the event, and also donated two days’ holiday and a £100 gift card to the raffle that we held internally to help raise money for the air ambulance.

“A huge thank you to Plastek for your ongoing support.”

Fundraisers Danielle, Mike and Joe recently visited the charity’s base to present the Plastek Warriors’ donation.
Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance operates 24 hours a day at a cost of more than £7m per year, completely funded by the generosity of the public.
