MP learns about charity’s work with elderly people

Mansfield MP Ben Bradley has revisited Cornwater Evergreens, a charity that provides care and companionship to the elderly and highlights the importance of community involvement.

He first went to the Cornwater charity shop in Mansfield, meeting volunteers who showcased the hub of community support, before joining an enriching session at the charity’s Friendship Club in Ravenshead, where Bradley took part in arts and crafts, and shared stories.

“It’s great to see the charity going from strength to strength, supporting more people in our community, and expanding the shop and fundraising presence over that time,” he said.

“Organisations like this are absolutely vital, supporting so many people socially, mentally, and physically, and without that kind of support, our care service simply wouldn’t cope. I thank the staff, volunteers, and everyone involved for everything that they offer.”

Cornwater Evergreens offers a wide range of services tailored to the needs of older adults, from social clubs and nutritious meals to creative activities.

Edward Johnstone and Stuart Bestwick, chair and deputy chair of trustees respectively, said: “Ben’s enthusiastic involvement and insightful reflections brought an infectious energy that resonated with everyone. It was a poignant reminder of the collective effort required to ensure no older adult feels isolated or unsupported.”

The charity said it is inviting the community to join in its efforts to create a future where support and compassion transform lives.
