Men in Sheds to welcome women

Posted onPosted on 13th Dec

A Mansfield group that helps men have a productive retirement is opening its doors to women for the new year.

Men in Sheds, Ransom Wood — based at the business park — aims to enhance the lives of retired men, helping their mental health and wellbeing, and involving them in the local community.

It gives members the chance to pursue practical interests, practice skills, and enjoy making and mending.

Now the group, run by volunteers, is inviting ladies to join as members.

Limited membership is available and anyone interested is advised to make early contact to avoid disappointment.

Founder member Denis Owen said: “Weekly sessions will start with basic DIY, woodworking skills on the machines and hand tools we have available in our workshop.

“Fully-experienced volunteers will be on hand to teach or assist new members.

These sessions can include any projects that you wish to work on, or on items for the shed to sell at one of our forthcoming markets.”

Sessions will start on Monday, 5th February, from 1pm to 4pm, and then every Monday afternoon. Each sessions costs £4.

Anyone wanting to join the group or further information is asked to initially make contact by phone or by email, call Dennis on 07760 494546 or email [email protected] to make an appointment to discuss membership and session availability.
