Mayoral candidate’s homeless appeal

Martin Lee, Labour’s candidate for the Mansfield mayoral election inMay, visited Framework’s Rock Court accommodation in the town for homeless young people to speak to staff and to make a donation to the charity.

He said: “It has been great to meet the staff at Rock Court and hear about the vital support they are providing to young people in Mansfield. There are a lot of preconceived ideas about homeless services but most people are not even aware that Rock Court is here in town, which is a testament to how well run the service is.”

Rock Court provides a safe and supportive environment for young people who have become homeless for a variety of reasons and have different support needs. Every resident is provided with an individual support plan that is designed to help them develop the skills to move on to independent accommodation.

Martin is now urging people across Nottinghamshire to help protect Framework services by donating to the charity this Christmas.

The Mansfield district councillor added: “Every Christmas, instead of sending cards to my friends, family and clients, I let everybody know I am using the money to make a donation to Framework.

“It is vital that we do what we can to support them and so I hope other people will also consider making a donation.”
