THE Stags maintained their pre-season promise with another good performance against a team from a higher tier.
After defeating Leeds United and Notts County, and only losing to a last-minute Aston Villa goal, the Stags looked solid against League One Walsall.
Unlike their recent away wins over Grimsby and Lincoln, the Stags were unable to find their killer touch in front of goal and failed to score for the first time in pre-season.
New striker Liam Hearn played the first 45 minutes and triallist wingback Rob Taylor again impressed. After the game manager Paul Cox said he was hopeful of securing a deal to bring Taylor to the club.
Keeper Sascha Studer was the Stags’ man of the match with several good saves to deny former Sheffield United striker Danny Webber.
The Stags start their League Two campaign next Saturday at Northampton.
