A charity music festival is returning for a fourth year with a varied line-up of acts and a promise to give visitors a good time.

Mac-Stock raises funds for Macmillan Cancer Support and St Giles’ Hospice, Lichfield, and will be staged at the Black Market, Warsop, on 23rd March.

The festival, which brings together some of the best UK indie, ska and folk bands, and solo artists, was launched in 2016 when organiser and curator, Mansfield-born Graham Parker, was aiming to raise £100 for each year of the 68 years of his father’s life, before he lost his battle with cancer in February 2010.

Graham said: “When my father lost his battle with cancer I vowed to raise £100 for every year of his life. Mac-Stock 1 was the final push to hit, and pass, the £6,800 mark. It went so well that people told me I had to repeat it and the rest is festival history.”

He added that the event was maintaining its original aims – to raise money for Macmillan and to give a platform for up and coming acts.

The line-up includes local and national acts. The Star Botherers, from Warsop, are one of only a handful of acts that have played every Mac-Stock.

This year’s headline acts are 3 Draft Monkeys, Gaz Brookfield and Grace Petrie, while newcomers to the festival include Ren Stedman, Cara Means Friend and Darwin’s Rejects.

Among the other bands are The Pink Diamond Review, The Fox and The Pirate, the Balliamo Belly Dancers, Jess Silk and the Samantics.
