It’s all Good for Inspire Learning

Posted onPosted on 29th Sep

Inspire Learning has been presented with an official plaque to mark its Good rating after an Ofsted inspection.

The presentation took place at County Hall — Inspire delivers adult learning and college courses for young people on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council.

Inspire learning director Ian Bond was particularly pleased that its high-needs learning was recognised as Good, alongside the accredited adult provision, both of which were in their infancy at the last Ofsted inspection in 2017.

Ofsted inspectors commented on a calm, welcoming, and inclusive environment for learners across the many settings where classes are taught, while leaders and governors were commended for their strong focus on widening participation.

Inspectors said staff listen very closely to the needs of the community and employers, with leaders using this information to establish a clear purpose for their curriculums.
“Adult learners value and appreciate their courses. Tutors’ supportive approach encourages learners, who are often nervous to take part in education, to feel confident to study,” added the report.

Inspectors also found that many courses provide learners, often with limited access to education, with better opportunities to do so.

Young learners were said to enjoy their studies and the small class sizes they study in, developing substantial new subject knowledge, personal skills, and confidence so they can progress to further studies or work.

Coun John Cottee, chair of Inspire Board and cabinet member for Communities at the council, added: “The positive feedback shows the quality of our learning offer, and the value that the adult learning and college course provide to people throughout the county.”

Peter Gaw, Inspire chief executive, said: “Our offer is accessible across Nottinghamshire and is wider than ever. We encourage all those wanting to get back into learning or gain new skills and qualifications to consider becoming an Inspire learner.”
