Events aimed at helping jobseekers into work are being held at Nottinghamshire County Council Work Clubs in Mansfield, Hucknall and Retford next week.
The special sessions are being held as part of the weekly work clubs, based in libraries throughout the county. They include on Wednesday, 6th August (10am to 12noon), Mansfield Work Club hosting a session aimed at understanding how big employers recruit and what they are looking for.
The event will cover job profiles and how to use them, key labour market facts, provide a greater awareness about the types of jobs out there and look at the changing world of work in the 21st century.
Coun Diana Meale, chairman of the Economic Development Committee at Nottinghamshire County Council, said: “Our regular work club meetings provide valuable support to jobseekers, allowing people to share experiences and build new contacts.
“From time-to-time we give the sessions over to special events, concentrated on a specific topic and aimed at making participants work ready. From hearing from local employers about the qualities they are looking for, to how to be a more effective job hunter, these sessions provide a valuable information for people looking for a job or a change in career.”
Nottinghamshire County Council runs work clubs at nine libraries throughout the county – Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Hucknall, Worksop, Retford, Stapleford, Arnold, Mansfield, Newark and West Bridgford.
They are free to attend and give people the chance to meet others looking for work, build new contacts, share job-hunting experience, interview techniques, CVs, volunteering and training opportunities.
