Going yellow to help mental health awareness

Posted onPosted on 17th Oct

Caring staff at a Forest Town business — and the company — raised £200 to mark Mental Health Awareness Day.

The money will go to the #Hello Yellow campaign for young people’s mental health, which saw people across the country wear yellow to support the awareness initiative.

Staff at Jeremias Flue and Chimney Systems raised just under £100 and the company matched that and topped up the final total to £200.

All departments took in homemade and bought cakes — and for a donation of a minimum of £2 people could eat them.

The staff said: “All of the team are proud to support charities and the local community with any help possible.

“This year we have supported eight different charities, five of them local in the community, through donations of raffle prizes etc.”

Jeremias Flue and Chimney Systems added: “Mostly everyone knows someone who suffers with mental health in the workplace.

“The more we can ask our staff to talk about mental health, the more we dispel myths and shame that often surround the topic.

“Some people need help but we very often don’t know that is the case!”
