Generation game at Abbey Primary

More than 40 grandparents attended Abbey Primary School’s second Generation Games event.

The Mansfield school used the event to showcase its new mini ipads, bought through funding by Awards for All to support the community’s understanding of tablets and how they can support learning.

The event was organised by school’s Rights Respecting Schools Award Champions (RRSA), who wanted to introduce the ipads to two generations of the community.

They were supported by Sam Pridmore from Sutton Centres.

The school hopes to have enough interest from grandparents to set up a family learning course next year.

The school was also supported with funding by Mansfield Partnership Against Crime to help improve relationships between older and young people by giving them shared experiences.

Teacher Danielle McIntyre said: “We were very pleased that so many people used the ipads. Securing Awards for All funding is a fantastic opportunity and one we intend to make the best of. We would love to be able to run a course next year. If any grandparents or parents want to join us they should put their name down at the school office.”
