Flowers thank you surprise for caring Mansfield police inspector

Posted onPosted on 2nd Apr

A thrilled Mansfield woman has said thank you to the police for caring.

And her gift of flowers left an inspector at the town’s police station overwhelmed.

Inspector Hayley Crawford had visited the woman a couple of weeks earlier after an incident to check she was OK, talk about the issues she was facing and make sure that she was receiving the right support.

She was so thrilled to receive the visit that she wrote a note to Insp Crawford and dropped it into Mansfield Police Station, together with the flowers.

The note said: “Thank you so much for visiting yesterday. It was so unexpected and made my day! I was smiling for the rest of the day!”

Insp Crawford explained: “People sometimes come across the police when they are having the worst time in their life.
It was important for me to revisit this lady and assure her she was not forgotten and check that she was receiving the support she needed.

“The police are busy but sometimes just taking that time to revisit someone after the dust has settled is important and shows the compassion we have — and helps to build trust in the community.

“We care about people’s safety and we want people to be OK. That’s what we are here to do — to protect life and prevent harm.

“I’m so touched to receive these gifts. The lady was so lovely and really didn’t need to go any trouble.

“It’s such a stressful time for everyone at the moment and I hope that the lady and others know that we, as a police force, are here for them.”
