A short film showing the demolition of the former Mansfield General Hospital from start to finish is now available to view online.
The footage has been compiled from a time-lapse camera system, which was set up to track the dismantling of the building over a six month period.
The high-definition system, which was installed by the company Hideaway Media, took round the clock photos of the site every fifteen minutes. The archived images were then edited to show the various stages of demolition.
Demolition contractors CMEC moved onto the 1.3 hectare site in November 2013 to remove buildings, which had been derelict for twenty years and which in some cases dated back to the late eighteen hundreds.
Portfolio holder for economic regeneration Coun Kate Allsop said: “This fascinating footage documents the demolition of a historical Mansfield building and the clearance of a huge site. The film is only two minutes long, but is definitely worth a view.”
