Children with disabilities in Mansfield will be amongst the beneficiaries of new arts projects, thanks to funding from Nottinghamshire County Council.
The council’s Grant Aid Sub-Committee has agreed funding worth more than £26,000 for 13 arts projects across the county through the 2014/15 Nottinghamshire Arts Fund.
Grants have been particularly targeted at projects which support vulnerable people, to support the Council’s priorities of supporting safe and thriving communities and providing care and promoting health.
Amongst the projects being supported is ‘Mole in the Meadow’, activities for young people with profound learning disabilities and/or autism spectrum disorders and their families.
A grant of £2,500 has been given to Bamboozle Theatre to deliver the project in the Mansfield area, starting next Spring.
Councillor Joyce Bosnjak, Chairman of the Grant Aid Sub-Committee at Nottinghamshire County Council, said: “I am delighted that we have been able to support such a diverse range of projects through this year’s Nottinghamshire Arts Fund allocation.
“The fund is specifically aimed at supporting projects with clear outcomes, such as getting more people to try arts activities. We have a really good mix of schemes.
“In many cases, the projects have been targeted at specific groups of vulnerable people, such as young people with disabilities or the elderly, and will complement the good work of many County Council services. Other projects are aimed at the wider community, bringing people together through the arts which promotes community cohesion.”
A further round of 2014/15 funding is now available for a limited number of arts projects. Full details are available from the Nottinghamshire County Council website: www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk/nottsartsfund
The closing date for applications is Monday, 27th October.
