Charity fundraising target is smashed

Posted onPosted on 19th Feb

Caring Mansfield beauty queen Amy Sunderland has broken her fundraising target for Dementia UK — and the money is still rolling in.

Amy (above) was crowned Miss Mansfield and Sherwood Forest in July and set herself a target of raising £5,000 for Dementia UK.

And during February she smashed through the target to reach £5,591 — and she still has several more fundraising events to come.

She said: “I chose this charity as dementia has affected my family.

“That’s why I want to help other families like mine who have been affected.

“I am delighted that I have reached my target and thank everyone who has supported me.

In February Amy co-hosted a Battle of the Couples event at The Towers, Mansfield, with Miss Mansfield Oustanding Teen, Emily Plant.

She also held a Bublé Dinner and Dance Event at the 1861 Suite at One Call Stadium, Mansfield, featuring an evening of music from local musician Lee Hutton, two quiz nights, an afternoon tea and a race night.

Future fundraising events include being involved in Dementia UK’s Time For A Cuppa campaign on Friday, 6th March.

Amy, a medical secretary with the NHS, will be visiting local businesses and care homes who are kindly hosting coffee mornings in aid of the charity.

She also plans to travel to Mansfield in Ohio, USA, in June as a guest at the Miss Ohio Scholarship Programme.
