Career Champions go Dutch

Educational leaders from the Netherlands visited Mansfield to find out more about the Mansfield Learning Partnership, which brokers employer links with schools to deliver a high-quality Career and Employability Programme.

Hosted by Vision West Nottinghamshire College, the visitors went to the Brunts and Manor academies to talk to headteachers and students in the MLP programme.

The Dutch teachers took part in a speed networking session with career champions, including A-Star Media, the Coal Authority, County Batteries and Garibaldi College, to see how they work with schools without impacting on their business.

Berni Dickinson said, “It was a real pleasure to organise this visit and have the opportunity of sharing the success of
work of the Mansfield Learning Partnership work, designed and delivered by local partners. My key message to the Netherlands educational leaders was that it was all about partnership working and having the drive and ambition to make to
happen for young people.”

Carel Vanker, a visiting deputy headteacher, said: “It’s very nice to see in a difficult region we are working very nice together, and that’s the main point, working together. I have seen some inspiring people who are working very hard together on the regeneration of the region.’
