Mansfield Museum has launched a Sanctuary Café for local Eastern Europeans.

It said the café, usually open fortnightly on Thursdays, from 12noon to 3pm, is a friendly and informative place where all people are made welcome to feel like part of the community.

There is the chance to enjoy tea, sweets, board games, and the opportunity to learn about the history and heritage of Mansfield.

A spokesman said: “We invite you to feel at home in Mansfield Museum and the Palace Theatre, without needing to feel pressured to speak English during your visit.

“There is no need for an appointment in advance, it is completely free and you are cordially invited.”

The next café is on Thursday, 29th September.
