Russell Jones, a highly-respected partner at Fidler & Pepper Solicitors, is to take over the helm of one of the East Midlands’ premier business and networking organisations.

In January next year, Russell will become chair of the award-winning Mansfield 2020, taking over from Irvin Robinson, who after 15 years in the role is stepping back in order to dedicate more time to his family.

Russell said: “Without any doubt whatsoever, in recent years Irvin has been the driving force behind Mansfield 2020, bringing his passion for the area to the fore in a role that has seen the organisation support businesses and work with other organisations for the benefit of the town.

“He will be sorely missed as chairman but I am determined to bring my own experience, drive and passion for business to the position, which I am delighted and very proud to be taking up.”

Russell, who will take up the post alongside his work at Fidler & Pepper Solicitors, added: “I am confident that Mansfield 2020 will continue to go from strength to strength and I relish the opportunity to work with the fabulous Mansfield 2020 team, its dedicated and extremely hard working board of directors, the members, and others, for the good of Mansfield and Ashfield.”

Irvin made the announcement at the November meeting of Mansfield 2020, which was held at Portland College.

He said: “I have been immensely proud to have been a part of 2020 and I will continue to support everything it does. I’m pleased to be stepping down at a time when the organisation is in a good place and I am looking forward to officially handing over the chairmanship to someone who is much admired in the local business community.”

Members of 2020 will have the opportunity to wish Irvin well at its December breakfast meeting, which also includes a dedicated time slot to acknowledge all that Irvin as done for the organisation over the years.
