Playground funding for school

An infant school in Calverton has been handed funding by a regional housebuilder to upgrade its outdoor playground, to meet the needs of all its pupils.

Persimmon Homes Nottingham donated £1,000 to the PTA group for Manor Park Infant School through its Community Champions scheme, which seeks to support good causes and organisations across the region.

The Friends of Manor Park PTA group is actively fundraising for the redevelopment of the school’s outdoor play area, enabling a playground suitable for all children’s abilities, including wheelchair users.

Tina Evans, from the Friends of Manor Park, said: “As children grow and develop through play, we want to support the school by helping to create a play area that is accessible for all children.

“We have already raised £1,000 so Persimmon Homes’ donation is a significant boost to our ultimate goal, we are very grateful.”

Neil Follows, managing director for Persimmon Homes Nottingham, said: “We are in the stage of a new development in Calverton so we are delighted to be supporting the community.

“Our Community Champions scheme is all about supporting local people in the areas in which we are building.”
