New chef has right ingredients

Mansfield Manor Hotel has a new chef, Simon King (28), who has plied his craft in a number of top venues since completing an apprenticeship with a national hotel chain.

Simon, who specialises in weddings and conferences, will run the kitchen at the refurbished Grade II-listed Mansfield Manor.

He said: “It has built up a reputation for making sure people enjoy their big days, so there is a pressure to make sure that continues. We want to make sure everything from a sandwich to a wedding breakfast is done right.

“I want people to leave being happy with the food they have tasted. That’s what matters to me as a chef.”

Mansfield Manor, on the edge of Carr Bank Park, is a restored Georgian manor house, with 11 bedrooms, a conference room, licensed bar and it is licensed to host wedding ceremonies.

General manager Kim Wilson said: “Simon is an excellent chef and has high standards so he is already making a name for himself. It’s great to see someone who shares our beliefs that our guests are our number one priority.”
