Marketing agency takes on five new staff

Posted onPosted on 18th Jan

The new year has got off to a flying start for South Normanton-based full service marketing agency Purpose Media. The company has announced the appointment of five new staff and plans to acquire other businesses to expand its service portfolio further.

The growth is as a result of significant strategic changes within the business over the last six months. Purpose Media was founded in 2009 as an e-commerce website and on-line marketing specialist and achieved 66% growth in turnover in 2014.

Following the acquisition of certain assets of Derby creative agency Revolver Revolver in 2015 and a new strategy that is being introduced to offer other related services such as video content, photography, blog copyrighting, social media training and advice, press release writing and dissemination, and enhanced SEO consultancy, the company has developed into a full service marketing agency. It is predicting similar growth for the financial year ending March 2015, smashing through its £1million turnover target.

Managing director Matt Wheatcroft said: “Breaking three vertebrae in my neck in the summer of 2015 was a huge turning point as it gave me a lot of time for reflection and planning.

“I returned to work and set about making the changes that would make the business independent of any one individual but still ensure fast and scale growth. Together with the management team it was decided that the most appropriate strategy to expand our business was to establish other divisions under the Purpose Media umbrella run by specialists in each new discipline who can manage and grow a bigger team as more clients come on board.”

During 2016 Purpose Media intends to acquire other local businesses with related skillsets that will complement the existing portfolio of services and help to improve the offer to clients. The ultimate goal of the new strategy is to reach £10m by 2020.

Meanwhile, the company continues to expand and the five new people joining the Purpose Media team are; Marketing Manager, Jonny Stringer, who has a first class honours degree in journalism from Sheffield Hallam University. Karol Hauszyld and Jack Thompson who join as client support apprentices. The technical team has been boosted following the appointment of Connor Burton who joins as a PHP developer and Nick Alexander who is a senior developer.
