Manufacturer’s awards hat-trick

Mansfield-based manufacturer Belton Massey has won a hat-trick of Chamber of Commerce awards, including the Business of the Year title.

The firm, Europe’s largest independent manufacturer of non-original catalytic converters, received the honours at the chamber’s annual Nottinghamshire Business Awards.

It also won the Manufacturer of the Year and Achievement in International Business awards.

Established in 1966, Belton Massey operates from two bases in Mansfield, supplying distributors and garages in more than 30 countries worldwide.

Chairman John Massey said: “We are absolutely elated to have won the Business of the Year title at this year’s Nottinghamshire Business Awards. It is a complete surprise and a fantastic honour to receive this award, given the calibre of such prestigious competition.

“This award is a testament to the whole company and its achievements, so I’d to thank the team for helping us get to where we are today. I would also like to thank the Chamber of Commerce for acknowledging our efforts.”

Other winners included Mo Kelly, of renewable energy firm Sasie, who was named Entrepreneur of the Year; East Midlands Trains, which won the Excellence in Customer Service award; and Air-IT, based on the Nottingham Business Park, which was named Small Business of the Year.

Chamber chief executive George Cowcher said: “The Chamber’s congratulations go to all of this year’s winners. We had some stellar entries this year and the judging process was extremely tough, but all of the winning businesses thoroughly deserve their success.

“The standard of competition was extremely high this year which clearly shows that, following a year in which the local economy has made remarkable progress, we have some real success stories of Nottinghamshire businesses doing well.

“Over the past 12 months, businesses in Nottinghamshire have been busy investing, innovating, exporting and growing and these awards are testament to the quality of business we have in this city and county.”
