Manufacturer opens doors to students

Posted onPosted on 21st Apr

In conjunction with MAKE UK’s National Manufacturing Day on 7th July, Plastek UK in Forest Town will open its doors to groups of teachers and students who would like to understand more about our processes and technologies.

Plastek UK, part of the USA-based Plastek Group, is a major supplier of injection and blow-moulded packaging to many of the world’s famous household brands.

“We are able to offer excellent career opportunities to enthusiastic young people with an interest in product development and manufacturing,” said vice-president, Mick Shaw. “The Plastek Group has a long and proud track record of supporting its people with appropriate training and development packages.

“If there are teachers of design and technology, or similar subjects, whose students would welcome the chance to understand how we create millions of complex components, many of which they may have used thousands of times without realising they were made locally, we would love to hear from you.

“There will also be an opportunity to learn more about how we are rising to the challenge of creating a more sustainable future for our industry.”

Numbers are limited for the visits. Anyone interested should contact customer services manager Danielle Harkness at [email protected] or call 01623 666227.

Plastek UK has been in operation since 1999 and employs more than 140 people.
