Geostream completes significant cloud infrastructure project

Posted onPosted on 2nd Nov

Geostream Solutions Ltd, of Mansfield, has completed a major project providing a new cloud network infrastructure to 21 residential care homes around the country, and will provide an ongoing support desk.

The 10-week project was commissioned by Careport, based in Matlock, Derbyshire who are the management company for Exec Care Homes Group. The work involved Geostream engineers establishing a multiple server environment within Amazon Web Services (AWS) and the handover of a private wide area network connecting the 21 care homes around the country.

Careport’s newly-formed infrastructure in Amazon Web Services now consists of four servers hosting several applications along with user and computer management that the Exec Care Homes reply upon daily.

This project was run alongside Careport’s own system update with a brand new onsite server yielding increased capacity, secure backup and remote connectivity. Both Exec Care Homes and Careport have migrated from an in-house email system to Office 365, simplifying licensing and saving money too. Despite tight deadlines, both projects were completed successfully on time and on budget by Geostream Solutions Ltd.

Project overseer and Engineer Michael Holmes, pictured right, said the work was demanding and satisfying to complete.

He said: “Running both projects side by side was a pretty challenging experience from a technical and project management point of view so I’m incredibly pleased how it all turned out and that Geostream could deliver for both companies within a limited timescale.”

Geostream director Matthew Caunt said their team can now look forward to providing the ongoing service desk facility.

He said: “These installations not only set the foundation for the future growth plans of the Careport business, but provide increased performance, reliability and support their staff and homes regardless of the geographic locations.”

Managing director of Careport, Mr Christopher Briddon, pictured left, said that Geostream had carried out their projects with efficiency.

He said: “We have a fantastic working relationship with Geostream and when we approached them regards expanding their support to Careport with a major new project, they immediately stepped in to action. Under a very tight timetable and with a number of challenges and risks, they delivered on all fronts so we had a successful and smooth transition.

“They are now providing support across a large number of care homes that we are responsible for. We cannot recommend Geostream enough as they have become a very important partner to our business.”
