Generous businesses rally to homeless campaign

Posted onPosted on 23rd Dec

An appeal to help the homeless saw Mansfield-based recruitment agency TurnerFox donate 36 sleeping bags to The Salvation Army thanks to the generosity of local businesses.

TurnerFox also supported the Beacon Project in Mansfield by collecting new and used rucksacks

At the beginning of TurnerFox’s Help Keep A Homeless Person Warm This Winter campaign, The Salvation Army advised that sleeping bags are an item not often donated.

TurnerFox said: “Christmas in the recruitment industry usually means gift drops and chocolates for clients. This year, however, we decided we wanted to do something a little different to help the community.

“That’s why we teamed up with The Salvation Army to donate sleeping bags.”

The campaign called on the help of other local businesses to donate a waterproof sleeping bag.

Among those helping TurnerFox, which gave a sleeping bag, there were donations from Linney Group (x6), JetPress (x2), Persimmon Homes (x6), Collier Antiques (x2), Midas Creative (x2), Utility Warehouse (x1) and West Nottinghamshire College (x15).

Michelle Fox, from TurnerFox, said: ‘“We have been completely overwhelmed by the generosity of the local community throughout this campaign to collect sleeping bags for the homeless.

“The students and staff at West Notts College have gone absolutely above and beyond to donate to this amazing cause through donations, bake sales and raffle tickets.

“With little notice they managed to raise enough money to purchase 15 sleeping bags and three rucksacks. We cannot thank them enough for their efforts.”
