Engineering and mechanics students were treated to a visit from a £165,000 state-of-the-art truck.

B. Taylor and Sons Transport Ltd, part of Taylor’s Transport Group, Huthwaite, visited learners at Academy Transformation Trust Further Education’s Vehicle Technology College, Ollerton, with its new Volvo HF16 500 lorry.

The logistics company has a partnership with the college and has supported students’ learning as well as helping with events.

Taylor’s Transport Group marketing manager Paul Horton said the visit gave learners the chance to compare the truck with the usual car maintenance they carry out.

The truck’s top-of-the-range facilities include safety features such as autobraking and side cameras, as well as bunk beds, air-conditioned seats, a fridge, coffee maker and microwave.

Paul added: “The students were the first people to have a look at the truck, which was only registered to us the day before. As a company we are committed to working with and helping our local communities.”
