A Forest Town business is placing sustainability at the forefront of its work.

Plastek UK Ltd is a manufacturer of custom injection and blow moulded components for the packaging industry.

For the last two years its technical team moulded and tested alternative materials in many existing mould tools to produce more sustainable plastic packaging and to help customers meet recycling targets.

Some of the benefits of these trials include the use of Post Consumer Recycled materials — a material that has met its intended use or can no longer be used for its intended purpose and is recycled by proprietary process to produce plastic resin pellets, which can be used to mould products or packaging items again.

Another company activity to meet sustainability targets is light-weighting of packaging, which generates plastic material savings together with a reduced CO2 footprint.
