Charity balls tops £21,000

More than £21,500 was raised at the third Hall-Fast Charity Ball.

A total of 240 people attended the black-tie, charity event at the John Fretwell Sporting Complex, Sookholme.

It was organised by Mansfield-based industrial supplies firm Hall-Fast, which joined forces with former Nottingham Rugby Club legend David Jackson at the start of the year and committed to raising £30,000 in 12 months, to be shared equally by Headway — The brain injury association and Mansfield’s Fountaindale SEN School.

The school helps youngsters aged three to 19 with physical and sensory needs.

Hall-Fast managing director Malk Hall said: “It was a fantastic event and a huge success, I would like to thank the event sponsors, everyone who donated auction and raffle prizes, and everyone who came to the event.”

Almost £8,000 was also raised earlier in the year from a 100-mile Nottingham Rugby Charity Bike Ride, and with a 300 miles in 24 hours charity bike ride (from Newcastle to London) taking place on 22nd August, it is hoped that closer to £35,000 will be raised this year.

Hall-Fast began its fundraising campaign almost three years ago, and the amount of money raised for the Fountaindale SEN School is expected to surpass £60,000 by the end of 2015.
