Mansfield group Career Champions have been named a finalist for the Education and Business Partnership Award at the East Midlands Chamber Awards.

Made up of Berni Dickinson, director of the Mansfield Area Partnership; Caroline Cox, operations manager from Mansfield 2020, and Katrina Atherton, business director of A-Star Media, the team set up Career Champions in the summer of 2013 to engage local schools and businesses.

The nomination their collaborative work with schools and employers to develop a local careers and employability framework ‘bridging the gap’ between young people and the world of work.

Katrina said: “We are honoured and excited to be recognised at such a high level for the work we are doing.

“Mansfield is a brilliant town with a wealth of young talent and we are helping businesses to tap into that resource.”

Career Champions will find out if they have been successful at the East Midlands Chamber Awards in September.
