A Sutton hair and beauty salon, which expanded to also be a training academy, is celebrating again.
Acut Above The Rest, based on Outram Street, was named Outstanding Salon of the Year at the English Hair & Beauty Awards 2024.
It takes its tally of awards to 37 — with the prospect of more to come later this year, including at The Nation’s Hair and Beauty Awards.
Owner Jade Gray, who bought the then mobile hairdressing business in 2015 and has since built it up, said: “We are so overwhelmed.
“It’s amazing because I never thought I’d get this far, never mind having so many awards.”
Jade, who a couple of years ago was diagnosed with ADHD and bipolar disorder but still managed to create her successful business, added: “I also want to thank my dream team working with me and especially our clients, who got us to where we are.”
As well as focusing on her business, Jade, who first had a shop in Pleasley, has had to cope with being the mother of a disabled son.
LJ, who has two younger brothers, was starved of oxygen at birth and suffers from cerebral palsy, epilepsy, speech delay, and ADHD, among other problems.
Jade, who is now an aesthetic practitioner as well as running her salon and training academy, added: “I want to show other women that you can succeed in any circumstances and you can follow your dreams no matter what.”
For 12 years the English Hair & Beauty Awards 2024 have celebrated stylists and salons that represent excellence in the hair and beauty industry. The ceremony was held at Colwick Hall Hotel, Nottingham.
