2020 – Aiming to better serve the business community

Posted onPosted on 20th Jan

Mansfield and Ashfield 2020 is voting on plans to double the size of its board. The not-for-profit organisation works with public and private sector organisations to create opportunities for businesses and communities.

Among its monthly events is a Business Breakfast and the latest meeting, which is due to be held on 27th January, also incorporated the annual meeting.

On the agenda was a proposal to increase the size of the board from six members to 12.

Ella McManus, 2020 director of operations, said: “Nominations have been received from a wide variety of business leaders from across Ashfield and Mansfield and we will look forward to the new members’ input into how we can serve our local business community better.

“Happy New Year from all at Mansfield and Ashfield 2020! We hope everyone is raring to get the best from their businesses in 2023.”

The January breakfast meeting sponsor was Hopkins Solicitors and the company’s Claire Lowe and Patricia Redfern were scheduled to share their guide to ‘Happily Ever After’ in business and help members understand how to get the best out of their employees.

Adam Hill (above), Mansfield District Council’s recently-appointed chief executive, was due to introduce himself to members and talk about key ambitions for the council and the district.

The next Business Breakfast will take place on Friday, 24th February at Portland College, from 7.30am to 9am.

Would-be members can attend their first 2020 event free. All they need to do is register their business in the 2020 business directory and wait for an event invitation. More details are at https://mansfieldandashfield2020.com.

The January Women in Business event was sponsored by Incorporating Wellness with Kelly Hopley.

Kelly gave a presentation on how gut health is important in maintaining good health to allow people to remain efficient and productive in their businesses.

There are many nutrition myths and it can be hard to know what is helping or harming our systems.

Kelly advised the group to ditch crash diets, which can leave people feeling sluggish and bloated, and concentrate on balanced nutrition that gives bodies the nutrients needed to perform at their best.

The next Women in Business event will be at Refined, West Notts College, on Wednesday, 1st February, 12.30pm to 2.30pm.

The first Pie and a Pint event of the year was held at a new venue, the Travellers Rest, Sutton.

With more than 25 local business contacts attending, it was a good start to the year.

The evening event has been popular with tradespeople, engineers, and manufacturers, who may not be able to attend Business Breakfasts due to work schedules.

The next event will be held on Wednesday, 8th February, from 5.30pm to 7.30pm.

Mansfield and Ashfield 2020 runs monthly events to help build business connections and stimulate conversations that contribute to economic prosperity for everyone.

Regular events include:

Women in Business — First Wednesday of the month, 12.30pm-2.30pm.
Pie and a Pint — Second Wednesday of the month, 5.30pm-7.30pm.
