Industrial supplies firm Hall-Fast is celebrating a record-breaking month

Sales in April were boosted by an increase in demand from overseas customers requiring printed and embroidered clothing, specialist fasteners and industrial equipment with sales to overseas customers accounting for 25% of turnover.

Headline figures for the month saw it receive 800 orders and turnover was 88% up on April 2015.

The Mansfield-based company started trading from the back bedroom of the family home in August 2006 and now supplies a standard range of 200,000 items into 90 overseas markets, with its industry-leading range also including industrial equipment, tools and consumables.

Owner Malcolm Hall highlighted the firm’s pioneering online strategy to export as one of the main reasons for the company’s continued success – which has led to it now marketing 275 leading brands and boasting more than 475 suppliers.

He said: “Back in October 2008 at the height of the recession I saw the opportunity for Hall-Fast to pull forward plans to export using an online strategy, this have proven to be very successful and we continue to reap the benefits from this pioneering approach to exporting.”

Malcolm, who was made an MBE in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours, will visit Buckingham Palace on 13th May for his investiture.
