MANSFIELD’S new £9m bus station — launched by Nottinghamshire County and Mansfield District councils last March — is getting ready to celebrate its first anniversary.
So far more than 3.5m customers have passed through its doors and there have been more than 226,000 bus departures. Station manager Mr Elliott Mizen said: “It has been a fantastic first eight months for us.
The new bus station is fully enclosed and has a waiting area with seating, toilets, a baby changing area, shop and café. It boasts a staffed travel information office, electronic timetable information, CCTV cameras linked to the town centre system and automatic doors separating passengers from buses. It also has a high-tech video wall for use by local businesses and community groups and which will help provide local information on a variety of subjects.
