Be a ‘Park Champion’ and pitch in to get involved at Sherwood Forest country park! That is the message from rangers who are hosting a community clear-up day this coming Saturday from 9.30am to 12.30pm as part of the national Keep Britain Tidy campaign.
It is just one of the events and activities which will be taking place in the run-up to and during the Easter period in Nottinghamshire country parks – including Easter trails, nature walks and following In the Footsteps of Robin Hood!
For more details visit the Nottinghamshire County Council website: www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk/whatson where you can also sign up to the Email Me service to receive alerts about forthcoming events.
In terms of the Sherwood community clear-up, staff and volunteers will start on clearing the pathways and then spreading out wider afield across the country park. It is to clear litter including sweet papers, tissues and empty bottles and some discarded dog waste bags which need to be binned.
Most people with dogs who visit Sherwood are excellent and responsible dog owners but there are a few occasions where dog mess is not picked up or is picked up in bags, but the bags are not put in the bin. There are also free dog mess bags available at Nottinghamshire country parks.
