£3,000 donation for rescue volunteers

Posted onPosted on 20th Mar

Barratt and David Wilson Homes North Midlands has donated £3,000 to Nottinghamshire Search and Rescue (NSART).

The contribution has been allocated towards the purchasing of kit for NSART’s dog team, and it will also aid critical efforts to locate and rescue vulnerable missing people within the community.

Established in 2012, NSART is comprised of trained volunteers working in collaboration with Nottinghamshire Police. The organisation operates 24/7, deploying search teams on foot, utilising drones, bikes, and search dogs to fulfil their mission.

Jo Scott, chair of NSART, said: “Receiving the news about this donation was truly uplifting for NSART! We are incredibly grateful to receive this donation and honoured that the employees at Barratt and David Wilson Homes selected us.”

The £3,000 donation will be allocated towards acquiring specialised equipment for the charity’s search dogs and their handlers.

Additionally, some of the funds will also go to essential updates for NSART’s publicity materials – some of which are more than 10-years-old – to raise awareness of the team, raise vital funds and recruit new members.

Jo added: “All our members give their time for free and fund a lot of our own equipment and personal travel costs, however it still costs over £20,000 per year to cover the cost of equipment, insurance, training and other essential costs.

“Donations like this help to keep the team operational and allow us to invest in updating and improving our capabilities to provide greater assistance to our community.”

Mark Cotes, managing director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes North Midlands, said: “We understand the profound impact that NSART has on our community. Its commitment to locating and rescuing vulnerable individuals reflects the true spirit of service.

“We are honoured to contribute to the charity’s crucial mission, recognising that by offering our support, it can play a big part in the safety and well-being of our fellow community members.

“The work of NSART embodies the essence of compassion, and we are privileged to stand beside the charity in making a positive difference.”

Jo commended Barratt and David Wilson Homes’ Community Fund scheme, where pots of £3,000 are distributed to employee-nominated charities in December and January from the Barratt Foundation. She added: “The scheme is very generous; it is fantastic that staff are given a direct say in selecting the charity recipients.”
