Win tickets to Palace Theatre show

September promises to be a great music month at the Palace Theatre in Mansfield.

The NewsJournal has teamed up with the theatre to offer a pair of tickets to see one of the acts that will bring back memories — Chairmen Of The Board featuring Ken Knox and Company.

They will be playing on Sunday, 18th September, at 8pm.

The legendary soul group was created by the late General Johnson and started out as The Showmen in the early 1960s, before signing to Holland-Dozier-Holland’s Invictus label in 1970.

They made some of the best hits of the era, such as Give Me Just a Little More Time, You Got Me Dangling On A String, Everything’s Tuesday, Pay To The Piper, Working On A Building Of Love, I’m On My Way To A Better Place and many more.

A full live band will accompany the act.

To enter our competition to win a pair of tickets, tell us the name of the label the group signed to in 1970 and send your entry to Mansfield and Ashfield NewsJournal, Chairmen Of The Board Competition, Mansfield Business Centre, Ashfield Avenue, Mansfield, NG18 2AE or e-mail competi [email protected] before 28th August.

Among the other attractions at the theatre in September are the Bootleg Sixties on Tuesday, 6th September, who will be at the Palace hot on the heels of another successful year touring the UK and Europe.

They will be making their Mansfield debut with two hours of songs and nostalgic images from pop music’s greatest decade.

Music from the 1950s to the 1980s is promised in That’ll Be The Day on Tuesday, 27th September.
