New look for Blidworth Library

Posted onPosted on 23rd May

Blidworth Library has reopened after being closed for a refurbishment — and is looking forward to welcoming the community to its new space.

A reopening event will be held on Saturday, 10th June, from 10am, where there will be local stallholders, cake, and free refreshments.

Blidworth is one of six libraries run by Inspire to have received investment from the Libraries Improvement Fund, which is part of the Cultural Investment Fund programme funded by the Department of Digital, Culture, Media and Sport and delivered by Arts Council England.

Nottinghamshire County Council, partnering with Inspire, was awarded £170,000 to create community hubs in Nottinghamshire, transforming the buildings into flexible welcoming spaces for communities to use and enjoy.

The refurbishment in Blidworth has provided a new flexible layout, community gathering area, and new stock for all ages and interests.

In addition there will be a range of new activities and events on offer, including:

Knit and Natter, every Monday at 10am.
Poetry group, on the third Saturday of each month at 10am.
Family Art Club, on the first Saturday of each month at 10.30am.
Rattle Rhyme and Roll, followed by Stay and Play, Fridays at 9.30am.
Children’s Lego Club, on the second Saturday of each month at 10am.
Memory Group, on the first Friday of each month at 10am
Places of Welcome, every Thursday at 10:30am.
