Description

ACB Electrical – Your trusted local electrician

PROFESSIONALLY-TRAINED and qualified with City & Guilds, TONY BRADLEY is an NICEIC Approved Contractor specialising in the domestic sector. Based in Sutton, Tony is a fully-qualified electrician with more than 22 years in the electrical industry. His aim is to provide the customer with an expert and professional electrical service at a reasonable price — and no job is too small.

As a young boy Tony would take apart electrical appliances — vacuum cleaners, fan heaters etc — to see how they worked. Years later Tony has honed these skills, but still has that curious nature, which helps keep him highly competent in the ever-evolving electrical world.

Have you found it difficult to find an electrician in the local area to carry out small jobs? Do you ask for quotes and never get a response? Tony set up ACB Electrical to specifically help customers in the domestic sector, providing a quality service.

Many electrical contractors are not interested in small electrical jobs; they want the bigger commercial work. There are also other trades out there (builder or kitchen fitter, for example, and dont be afraid to ask if they are NIC-EIC registered) who have little to no electrical qualifications — often overcharging for non-compliant, and sometimes dangerous, work. That becomes more expensive in the long term, when things eventually go wrong and you have to put it right.

If your power has tripped, before you call your electrician, have you unplugged all appliances, switched off everything that cannot be unplugged, and tried resetting each circuit one by one (starting at the RCD)? If this appears to work, begin plugging in and switching on appliances. This can sometimes identify a faulty appliance or at least narrow it down to a smaller part of the installation.

Consumer Units
A consumer unit (also known as a distribution board or fuse board) is the single most important electrical appliance in your home. In short, it remains the middle-man between the electricity supply and your home’s electronic devices.
Older fuse boards use various types of fuses to help protect the circuit. However, modern consumer units help protect your electrical appliances from
damage. Most importantly, they minimise the chance of electric shock to anyone in your home. An up-
to-date consumer unit is the best way to ensure the electrical system in your home remains safe for use.
