Waterproof bluetooth speaker funding appeal

Posted onPosted on 14th Sep

An entrepreneurial Mansfield man is appealing for backers for a new product he has devised — a waterproof universal bluetooth speaker case.

Mark Hopkinson, (36), has launched a start-up company, WUBS Case Ltd, to try to get his idea off the ground.

He is looking for investment to get a ready-to-market prototype built of the case that would securely hold any smartphone, tablet or similar media device and could be used in a bath, shower, hot tub or swimming pool.

Mark said the case would be 100% waterproof and also suitable for activities like camping, skiing, snowboarding, fishing, on the beach, travelling or at a festival.

“I have the prototype manufacturer ready to go if the backing is received,” he said.

“If enough money is raised, I would also make a prototype for a deluxe model,

“The case would allow users to watch movies or listen to music while relaxing in the bath, shower, hot tub, or pool.”

Mark has launched his appeal for funding via the Kickstarter website at www.kickstarter.com/projects/1111071105/wubs-case-ltd-phase-1-join-my-concept-to-prototype

In 2014 he started his own small business, RockoGroup Property Solutions, but his passion is inventing.

“I have 110 business ideas, including 78 products,” Mark said.

“This idea came to me about 10 years ago. I was shocked that there wasn’t one as the idea is so simple… to hold any tablet or smartphone and watch movies / YouTube etc, or listen to music, safely in the bath, shower, at the pool, on the beach or anywhere.

“Financial constraints didn’t allow me to start the process of following my dreams until September 2015, when I filed my first patent.

“Two years later I am ready to start raising money to make a prototype and get them manufactured.”

The case, which would come in three sizes, could be used as a holder or simply as a waterproof speaker.

Mark said if he was successful he hoped to create jobs in Nottinghamshire by having the manufacturing done in the county.
