Voting opens for Sherwood Forest Hospitals’ Chief Nurse Awards

Nominations are open for this year’s Chief Nurse Awards at Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The awards celebrate those inspirational nurses, midwives, therapists, health care support workers and students who are committed to providing compassionate and outstanding care.

Nominations can be made by patients, members of the public and staff in any of the following categories, based on our core values of:

•Communicating and working together
•Aspiring and improving
•Respectful and caring
•Efficient and safe.

Further categories include:

•Health care support worker of the year (healthcare assistant, midwife assistant or assistant therapist)
•Student of the year (student nurse / midwife, therapy student or nurse associate).

In addition, there will be a special award chosen and presented by the Chief Nurse Suzanne Banks for outstanding contribution to leadership and empowering and inspiring others.

Nominations can be made via an entry form from the trust website: www.sfh-tr.nhs.uk and follow the link to Chief Nurse Awards.

Suzanne Banks, Chief Nurse at Sherwood Forest Hospitals said: “We are immensely proud of the hard work and dedication shown by our nurses, midwives, therapists and health care support workers. It is a positive time to celebrate what we as a trust have achieved so far. The awards reflect our new vision of dedicated people delivering outstanding care for our patients and communities.

“Last year was a record breaker, with more than 200 nominations. This year we are also recognising the work of our therapists so hope to receive even more.”

Nominations will close on Friday, 21st July at 5pm and winners will be announced at a special ceremony on 22nd August at Kelham House, Newark, where afternoon tea will be served.

Last year’s winner of the Chief Nurse Award Danny Jones, staff nurse in Sherwood Forest Hospitals’ Emergency Assessment Unit said: “I felt very proud even to just receive a nomination for an award. To win was amazing, knowing that my hard work is being noticed and it made me feel really appreciated.”
