How many Mansfields are there? Find out at Mansfield Museum

The Sister Cities Association (SCA) of Mansfield is hosting a month-long exhibition at Mansfield Museum focusing on the places called Mansfield around the world.

On Saturday, 10th February Mansfield Mayor Kate Allsop will officially open the SCA exhibition at 10am.

The exhibition features material sent from Mansfields in Massachusetts, Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania – the four Mansfields that have been involved in exchange visits where “Mansfielders” have enjoyed the hospitality both here in Nottinghamshire and in the USA.

Each day the exhibition will feature rolling presentations of video footage and photographs from other Mansfields, together with a world map showing the location of all the places called Mansfield and also information about the Earl of Mansfield, whose ancestral home is in Perth, Scotland

Throughout the exhibition a competition is running for young people aged from 5 to 11, featuring colouring flags from eight USA states where there are Mansfields.

The competition will be judged by the mayor, who went to Mansfield, Pennsylvania in 2016, members of the SCA and Larry Mansfield, of Mansfield Pennsylvania, who has planned a visit to our Mansfield ton take part in the exhibition and the closing ceremony on Saturday, 10th March.

Larry Mansfield is a descendent of the founder of Mansfield, Pennsylvania and headed up the organsiing group that invited Mansfields from around the worlds to visit his Mansfield in September 2016. He has been to Mansfield, Nottinghamshire on two previous occasions.
