Fitness festival fun at Mansfield Museum this Easter

Posted onPosted on 28th Mar

There will be a week of free health and wellbeing activities for all the family as Mansfield Museum holds its second annual health and wellbeing festival, from Monday 9th to Saturday, 14th April.

The six-day festival – Fitness, Food and Fun – focuses on families and will bring together a host of providers, with the aim of helping local people make the right choices across a variety of healthy living issues.

Coun Andrew Tristram, portfolio holder for environment and wellbeing at Mansfield District Council, said: “Health and wellbeing is one of four priority areas for the council and this festival is a great opportunity to highlight local activities and encourage more people to become active in the community.”

It includes the chance to join a health walk around town, learning all about sugar from the Sugar Scientists or the opportunity to try Hotpod Yoga – yoga carried out in a 20-person inflatable ‘cocoon’, heated to 37 degrees.

Visitors to the festival will have a chance to find out more about physical activity, diet, creativity, community groups and charities.

The event will also point them in the direction of individuals and organisations which can help them find out more about how to make life-style changes to become healthier.

A timetable of what is on offer during the festival, including displays, workshops and experiences to help families find out how to make their lives healthier and happier, is available from www.mansfield.gov.uk/museum
