Discover the town’s heritage

The National Heritage Weekend in September is being extended to a week to allow more days for more people to visit historical and architecturally interesting buildings, free of admission charges.

In Mansfield, the 1702 Old Meeting House in the centre of the town will be open over the weekend of 13th-15th September, from 10am to 3pm.

The Grade 2 listed building and the oldest non-conformist place of worship in Nottinghamshire is home to William Morris stained glass with drawings by Burne-Jones, a 1740s Act of Parliament Clock and a Green Man.

The Unitarian congregation that worships there will be highlighting ways in which past and present members have helped to shape the town over the last 300 years, including shoe manufacturers, publicans, a prolific novelist, and town mayors.
