Children’s writing competition at halfway point

Posted onPosted on 12th Nov

Earlier this month, local children’s author, Trinderella, launched a children’s writing competition and it’s now reached the halfway point.

Trinderella, or Lucy Trinder as she’s also known, has teamed up with up seven local businesses to make the competition possible – Asmech Systems, Concept 360, Vines Legal, Cianne Design, Gordian Coaching, Premier 247 Security and Personnel Solutions Midlands Limited.

Gareth Fowkes, business development manager for Premier Security 247, explained why they wanted to get involved: “Being a family-orientated company, we always look favourably towards such requests. We already work closely with a number of local schools, organizations and charities.

“So, when Lucy bought this to our attention, it was an easy decision. Also, being able to support and promote other local businesses and talent like Trinderella is great. We always like to shout about anything from the Mansfield and Ashfield areas.”

The competition is aimed at children aged between 7 and 11 years old and there are seven categories they can choose to write about – animals, the arts, adventure, mystery, history, technology and inventions and sport.

Trinderella has put together some tips to help, which can be found on her website www.trinderellatales.com or on her Facebook page.

Lucy said: “the response so far has been incredible it’s so lovely to see children getting excited about this. Life has changed so much for people during lockdown that I think this competition has helped children explore their imaginations. I can’t wait to sit down and read entries and I know the other judges are excited too.”

The competition officially closes on 27th November and there will be a winner from each category, who will receive a goody bag that will contain copies of Trinderella’s books “I’ve Got 7 Dogs, 2 Cats and a Gorilla in My Back Garden”, “The Time My Grandma Accidentally Bought a Giraffe” and her new book “Nobby Nudd”, which is due out in December. There’ll also be trophies, certificates and a few other surprises! There’ll also be one overall winner who will receive a Kindle Fire.
