Warsop recycling centre reopens

Posted onPosted on 27th May

Warsop Recycling Centre reopened on Tuesday – but Nottinghamshire County Council have still not revealed when the Mansfield centre will reopen.

There are currently eight recycling centres open in Nottinghamshire, also including Bilsthorpe and Newark.

Council leader Coun Kay Cutts said: “We are grateful how the people of Nottinghamshire have adapted to the new guidelines and arrangements when visiting the sites and ask that residents continue with their efforts.

“In the current climate I would reiterate that where possible residents should store waste safely at home in the first instance and only visit a site if the waste cannot be stored without causing a risk of injury, health or harm to themselves and or their family.

“In doing so residents will help us to continue to deliver this service effectively whilst the sites operate at a reduced capacity.

“I would like to express my gratitude to the staff working onsite and behind the scenes, working hard to reopen the centres during this challenging time.”

The reopened sites operate on a managed one in, one out basis for vehicles and all visitors must adhere to the 2metre social distancing when on site. No trailers, vans or pickups are permitted on site.

The council said it is continuing to work closely with its waste contractors Veolia in reviewing how to safely reopen remaining centres, given their size, layout and proximity to roads.
